Historical Exhibition Schematics
In the planning stages of the exhibition, I leveraged my existing familiarity with GIMP, a free and open-source raster graphics editor, to initiate the graphic design and layout of the exhibition space. This allowed for a quick and effective visualization of our initial concepts. Eager to explore the visual aspects of our planning, I transitioned to Floorplanner for more detailed computer-aided design (CAD).
The process of mapping the exhibition layout involved careful consideration of object placement to ensure a coherent narrative flow. I strategically positioned artifacts to guide visitors through our thematic journey, creating a sequential experience that built upon the overarching story. This exercise highlighted the profound impact of physical space on visitor engagement.
Utilizing GIMP and Floorplanner provided a tangible representation of our ideas, reinforcing the importance of thoughtful design in shaping visitor experience. The physical arrangement of artifacts is as crucial as the content itself; it can effectively guide visitors through the narrative and foster deeper engagement. This project honed my skills in translating abstract concepts into visual representations, demonstrating the power of design in enhancing the impact of an exhibition.
