Hello
Welcome to my digital portfolio! I am a M.A. candidate in Public History at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) with a concentration in archival, collections management and museum studies. I finished my Bachelor's Degree in History, with a major in history and a minor in political science from Lee university, and graduated in May 2023.

My Story
Many people develop a deep interest in history from an early age, often drawn by compelling stories and transformative events that shape the human experience. For some, this fascination begins with ancient civilizations, fueled by tales of Egyptian pharaohs, Greek myths, or the grandeur of the Roman Empire, offering insight into vastly different cultures and societal systems. Others find their passion sparked by pivotal conflicts like the American Revolution or World War II, where drama, sacrifice, and lasting global impact create enduring intrigue. The lives of influential figures such as Leonardo da Vinci, Marie Curie, or Abraham Lincoln also inspire many, revealing how individual ambition and leadership can leave a lasting mark on society. Moreover, landmark innovations—from the printing press to vaccines and space exploration—highlight humanity’s relentless quest for progress and understanding. My personal journey into history has been shaped by a deep interest in maritime heritage, captivated by iconic ships like the HMS Victory and the Cutty Sark, epic voyages of discovery by vessels such as the Santa María, and the gripping narratives of naval battles and tragedies like the Titanic. This interest expanded through exploring Civil War history within my own community, grounding my historical curiosity in a local context, and was further transformed by a global perspectives trip to Cherokee, North Carolina, where I engaged in cross-cultural exchanges that broadened my understanding of history’s multifaceted nature. A visit to Washington, D.C., where I encountered monuments, museums, and sites steeped in American legacy, solidified my desire to pursue history academically. These experiences have led me to major in history as an undergraduate and pursue graduate studies in public history, driven by a desire to make the past accessible and engaging for wider audiences. History is a dynamic, never-ending tapestry of past and present truths, vital in clarifying the murky lens through which people often perceive the world—distorted by bias, ignorance, and assumption. Through historical understanding, individuals can better interpret events and societies, making sense of the world with greater depth, empathy, and accuracy.
